ORLANDO, Fla. (September 16, 2020) — Synergy Settlement Services announces an important key addition to the Synergy senior leadership team. Rasa Fumagalli, JD, MSCC, CMSP-F joins Synergy as Director of MSP Compliance Services and will head up our Medicare operations group.  Rasa is an incredibly bright and talented lawyer well versed in dealing with all of the implications of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act from dealing with payments made prior to settlement to payments made after settlement (Medicare future interests).

With Synergy’s rapid expansion across the country comes the need for new dynamic team members to support our rapid business growth.  Synergy has opened new offices in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Cleveland, and Dallas just in the last few months. Prior to joining Synergy Settlement Services, Rasa worked as a workers’ compensation insurance defense attorney in the Chicago area. She has spent the last ten years focusing her practice on Medicare Secondary Payer compliance issues. As the former Director and VP of MSP Compliance for a national vendor, she has extensive experience in working with parties to effectuate settlements while addressing Medicare’s interests in a reasonable manner. Rasa’s knowledge, experience, and passion for navigating the intricacies of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and its supporting regulations allows her to provide valuable as well as pragmatic guidance in all stages of settlement discussions.

As Director of MSP Compliance Services, Rasa provides plaintiff attorneys with initial consultations to address any Medicare Secondary Payer compliance issues that may arise in connection with their clients’ personal injury or workers’ compensation cases.  Her team can address all of the issues related to Medicare compliance from start to finish.  This includes conditional payments, Medicare Advantage liens, Medicare Set-Aside allocations, and post-settlement administration of an MSA.

About Rodolfo “Rudy” Rodriguez-Chomat

Rodolfo “Rudy” Rodriguez-Chomat, MBA, MSHRM, is the Director of Business Development for Synergy Settlement Services in the South Florida area, including, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Naples and Fort Myers. In this role, Rudy is charged with developing and cultivating new business from personal injury firms throughout South Florida in lien resolution, Medicare set-asides, pooled trusts, attorney fee tax deferrals, government benefit preservation, and structured settlements.

Through his 20-plus years of experience working with law firms, Rudy has established long-time relationships with firms throughout South Florida. He spent 15 years as a paralegal and for the past five years, has provided support to firms in staffing and, HR. Most recently, he worked with the nation’s leader in attorney digital marketing, Thomson Reuters FindLaw where he was a three-time Century Club Award winner and National Consultant of the Month in August 2018. Rudy understands the intricate nature of law firm procedures. A law firm is a business, and his background allows him to show an attorney how working with Synergy is a great business decision.

Rudy was born and raised in Miami Beach. He lived in Miami-Dade County until 2008 when he moved to Broward County and currently resides in Pompano Beach, Florida. He is a graduate of Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism, an MBA, and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management.

Steve Harris is a settlement planner for Synergy. He is a passionate champion of plaintiff-only settlement planning, and a successful investor. In 1993 Steve was in an auto accident that took several years of intense rehabilitation to get back to his pre-injury physical health. During this time, Steve decided to make helping injured people his chosen career and went on to obtain his insurance and securities licenses. For the past 13 years, Steve and long-time plaintiff’s attorney Jeff Smith ran PSSG, a successful structured settlements agency that focused on putting solutions in place that are guaranteed, tailored for their specific needs, allow for liquidity and flexibility when needed, and protect means-tested benefits where appropriate.

Steve is an alum of both the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota, having majored in Political Science and Math.
